Habari za mchana! (Good afternoon!)

Sept. 1, 09
Mom, Corbin, and I have been doing a lot shopping recently. It is amazing how much we need to get still! There is a part of me that wonders how we will ever find everything that we are supposed to take!! This has given me more appreciation for what the missionarys must go through....knowing that they will be gone for awhile and knowing that they won't be able to find all these "conveniences" over in the other country.

Sept 4, 09
We are almost done with the major packing. We have 6 big containers that we will take with us, plus 4 smaller carryons. The big containers have to be under 50 lbs when they are fully loaded, which may seem like a lot will fit in there, but when you get your clothes, shoes, snacks, and books, the weight adds up very quickly!!

I thought that the knowledge that I would be leaving soon had fully sunk in. But now as it is getting closer, I will think to myself, "in two weeks we will be in Dar Es Salem shopping,"
and I still am surprised that it is coming up this fast!

Kwa heri!! (Good bye)

Hujambo!

Corbin and I had our Yellow Fever vaccine. The shot is a live virus meaning that we could have got flu-like symptoms afterwords. Our family prayed a lot that God would protect us from any bad side effects, which He did. We didn't get sick at all!!

Another thing that God blessed us with was when we called to get our Malaria medication. When Mom called up a pharmacy, they informed her that it was about $450 each!!! We did not want to spend that much!! So, we researched further and found some medicine that was cheaper, but could cause hallucinations. That was another thing that we really didn't want to have! So, Mom was able to talk with one of our friends who works at a Pharmacy and he found some medication that was $11 each!! What a blessing that we were able to find that. The side effect with it, is that we will be more susceptible to sunburn, so I am sure you know what we will be toting along with us!! :-)

Mom and I went shopping for 2 full days to find some modest, yet lightweight shirts and skirts for our trip. My, is it difficult to find clothes that match that description nowadays!! We found some shirts, but couldn't find one skirt. Finally on the 2nd day, we were driving past Ross dress for less and thought that we may as well stop in there and see if there were any skirts. We found 10 different skirts that were modest and lightweight!! Praise the Lord for caring for us and bringing us to the right place.

So, that is the news for right now....Tutanana (see you later, in this case, talk to you later :-)
